Netapp Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP), Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) Announce Launch Of New New Flexpod Solutions

Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) in partnership with Netapp Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) have launched the FlexPod® solutions. The new services brings together Cisco UCS Integrated Infrastructure and NetApp® data to enable companies speed up the delivery as well as transition to a hybrid cloud using a trusted innovation platform.

The new Managed Private Cloud

The integration will create a new Managed Private Cloud that will come with new consumption options. These options offer a flexible access to powerful and stable IT infrastructure as well as applications that enable customers to incorporate hybrid cloud into their data centers. In addition, FlexPod Datacenter, a healthcare application is one of the first pre-tested vertical solutions that are able to support more healthcare applications that are expected to be launched in the future. FlexPod has widely been used as a platform for investment protection and innovation and has been introducing new solutions for enterprise applications, latest virtualization software and databases that have the latest technologies from both NetApp and Cisco.

The launch was announced by Ranjeet Sudan, the vice president of NetApp in charge of converged infrastructure group. According to Sudan, through the partnership, the two companies will be seeking to fully utilize the FlexPod platform, with both old and newly installed.

Facilitating installation of managed services

One of the main functions of the new FlexPod enhancement is its ability to facilitate partners to assist customers in installing managed private cloud services on their infrastructure platforms. According to Sudan, this will offer customers with an on-premise cloud solution they can manage remotely for applications that are critical to business.

In the announcement, Sudan said that the new service will come with a set of requirements. He said partners will use the Converged System Advisor from NetApp to a full time monitoring of their infrastructure.

On his part, Arun Garg, the director of product management for NetApp’s Converged Infrastructure Group said that customers will be able to access a fully managed cloud that is inbuilt with FlexPod. He said that this can be used together with a cloud service manages by a third party, with full management as well as monitoring and help from NetApp.
